Monthly Competition Hand-ins

The Syllabus will confirm the hand-in dates for the competitions.  Anyone wishing to participate in these competitions has to hand in their photographs on the named night or earlier.  Entries made after the photographs have been taken to the judge will not count.  

A single image may be used a maximum of twice, over the three classes: colour print, mono print, and digital image - but not twice in the same competition.

External Competition Requirements

MUSSELBURGH

This event takes place annually, and the venue alternates between Kirkcaldy and Musselburgh.

10 prints + 10 digital images per club

Max 2 images per author per class.

INTER-FIFE

Annually, with the venue rotating between the 5 clubs involved:  KPS, St Andrews, Glenrothes, Dunfermline, Cupar.

colour print + mono print + digital image.

8 images per class. Max 2 per author per class

3-WAY

Between ourselves, Kinross CC and Linlithgow CC.

20 digital images per club.

SPF DIGITAL IMAGE

Held in the autumn. Often called the Digital Knockout comp.

Min club entry of 20, max of 40.

Max 2 /author /round (3 rounds).

SPF PRINT COMP.

Held in spring. Both Club and individual classes. Small charge for entries.

Colour print + mono print

Max 3 prints /author /section.

Overall max of 80 prints per club.

SPF PORTFOLIOS

Judged over the summer, the best images are put onto disc which is available to all clubs for viewing during the following year. Small charge for entries.

Prints + digital images.

Club entry: max 2 prints per author per class.

Plus individual entries.

Monthly Competitions Eligibility

Each member is classed as a novice unless they have:

    ● won the novice section of that category in a previous year;

    ● won a major award in the relevant category in the club’s Annual       Exhibition;

    ● had acceptances in international exhibitions;

    ● been recognised as an Advanced worker by another Photographic       Society.

In addition, the Council has the power to invite deserving novice workers to move to the advance section, at their discretion.  Any new member to the club may, on joining the Society, present a portfolio of images to the Council for consideration as an advanced worker.

Print Competitions (Novice and Advanced)

Monochrome Definition (S.P.F.)

The official requirement for a monochrome entry to any club competition or SPF competition is as follows:  “A monochrome work fitting from a very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey . . .”    Click for more
